Good morning, please take your shoes off at the door

The carpet is new and there is still a fresh paint smell. Nothing like a new environment to make a a person feel good. I've got the coffee on, freshly ground when I have the time, but I will resort to instant in emergencies. Though I draw the line at some things, cake should always be good quality and there is no excuse for overcooked vegetables.

I have blogged in the past under various guises in a personal capacity, but I've never really got into it in a big way. However, with the start of my nursing degree back in January, I've felt an increasing need for somewhere to write down my thoughts, reflections and general ideas and opinions about the goings on in my life. Hopefully it will be a positive outlet, and not just a forum for my ego to rant, I've got a private twitter account for that.

I have another twitter account, @beardystudnurse that will serve as a trigger for these blog posts, as there are already a few things I've read on there I'd like to talk about in more than 140 characters. I'm also hoping that my general typing and skill with words will increase, as sometimes I feel ashamed of some of the stuff I write on a daily basis, and have a dissertation to start in the near future

Intentions aside, I should let you know a little more about myself if I want to keep your interest. Born in Birmingham, and subject to a bit of a rough time at school, I didn't feel the confidence or support of doing science at a-level despite decent grades, opting for a course of arts qualifications that saw me getting an average 2:2 in Classics at university.

Several years of bumming about in IT jobs saw me getting increasingly frustrated at life and warranted a change to occur, and through a roundabout process of applying to medical school and being unsuccessful, have found myself doing nursing and thoroughly enjoying it.

thanks for reading
BSN xx
